The Effutu Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, successfully organized its final major clean-up exercise for the year, dubbed “Operation Clean Your Frontage.”The exercise which rallied communities toward a cleaner and healthier Effutu brought together Assembly Members, government institutions and agencies, security services, traditional and community leaders, organizations, and residents, with a mark of strong show of collective commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health within the Municipality.Key officials present included the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Majeed Ayariga, service commanders of the various security agencies in Effutu, Heads of Government Departments and Units, as well as staff of the Municipal Assembly. Their active participation underscored the Assembly’s resolve to lead by example in promoting sanitation. The clean-up exercise covered all 18 electoral areas within the Effutu Municipality, with particular focus on high-activity and sanitation-sensitive locations such as the Winneba Central Market and Ash Foam Junction near the North Campus of the University of Education, Winneba.Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah highlighted the theme “Reflect, Reset, Renew”, describing it as a call for collective responsibility and renewed commitment to sanitation. He noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, to revive the National Sanitation Day, and reflects Effutu’s readiness to fully embrace that national agenda.“A clean environment is essential for healthy living,” the MCE emphasized. “Through this exercise, we reaffirm our commitment to making our communities cleaner, healthier, and more habitable.”The MCE assured participants that “Operation Clean Your Frontage” will not end with this exercise, announcing that the clean-up will be sustained as a monthly ritual in the coming years. He further disclosed that the Assembly will strictly enforce sanitation by-laws, including the prosecution of offenders, to serve as a deterrent and ensure compliance.Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah reiterated his administration’s determination to prioritize sanitation, revive Effutu’s past reputation, particularly Winneba’s status as one of the cleanest cities in Ghana and instill a lasting culture of cleanliness among residents. He specifically cautioned traders at the Winneba Central Market against the indiscriminate creation and dumping of refuse, warning that offenders will face the full rigours of the law.“Keeping our surroundings clean is a shared responsibility,” he stated. “It is through discipline, community ownership, and active participation that we can contribute meaningfully to national development and environmental sustainability.”The MCE concluded by expressing his heartfelt gratitude to all participants, applauding their dedication, unity, and patriotic spirit. The successful execution of the exercise once again demonstrated that when leadership and community come together, meaningful progress toward a cleaner and healthier Ghana is achievable.
