The Effutu Municipal Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to quality education and the wellbeing of children in the Municipality as the new academic year officially commenced, with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, leading a delegation to mark the national “My First Day at School” initiative.The initiative, which formed part of activities to welcome pupils back to school after the reopening, saw the MCE, officials of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Education Directorate, representatives of the traditional authorities and other key stakeholders visit selected basic schools in the Municipality, including Don Bosco Catholic Basic School and Unipra South Basic School.The visit provided an opportunity for the delegation to interact directly with pupils and teachers, welcome learners back to the classroom and assess the general preparedness of schools as they commenced the new academic year.It also underscored the Assembly’s broader commitment to ensuring that children within Effutu have access to a safe, supportive and conducive environment in which they can learn, develop their talents and prepare meaningfully for the future.Addressing the pupils, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah expressed his delight at seeing children return to school and urged them to approach the new academic year with seriousness, determination, discipline and a positive attitude.He reminded the pupils that education remained one of the most important foundations for achieving their aspirations and urged them not to take the opportunity to learn for granted.The MCE encouraged the pupils to listen attentively to their teachers and parents, respect authority and remain committed to their studies, stressing that the discipline and knowledge acquired in school would play an important role in shaping their future.He further cautioned them against activities that could negatively affect their education and encouraged them to develop themselves into responsible citizens capable of contributing positively to the development of Effutu Municipality and Ghana as a whole.According to Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, the development of Effutu cannot be separated from investment in the education and welfare of its young people.He therefore called on pupils to dream big, work hard and make the most of every opportunity presented to them in school.The Effutu Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Issah Baffoe, also welcomed the pupils back to school and urged them to take their education seriously.He emphasised the importance of regular attendance, punctuality, discipline, attentiveness and hard work, noting that these qualities were essential ingredients for academic success.Mr. Baffoe encouraged pupils to respect their teachers, parents and colleagues, participate actively in classroom activities and cultivate effective study habits.He further urged them not to be afraid to ask questions, but rather to take an active interest in their lessons and make productive use of the educational opportunities available to them.Turning his attention to teachers, the Municipal Education Director called on teaching staff to continue giving their best to the academic, social and personal development of pupils.He encouraged teachers to create classrooms where children feel safe, valued and motivated to learn, while identifying and nurturing the individual talents and abilities of every child.In a gesture that added a practical dimension to the visit, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah presented learning materials and refreshments to pupils at the schools visited.The items included exercise books, pencils, erasers and sharpeners, together with drinks and biscuits.The presentation was intended to provide pupils with some basic materials needed for their studies while making their return to school a memorable and encouraging experience.For many of the pupils, the gesture provided an exciting start to the academic year and reinforced the message that their education and welfare remain important priorities to the leadership of the Municipality.The intervention also reflected the Assembly’s recognition that seemingly modest forms of support can make a meaningful difference in helping children begin the school year with confidence and enthusiasm.The “My First Day at School” engagement ended with a renewed call for stronger collaboration among all stakeholders in education.The Effutu Municipal Assembly and the Ghana Education Service reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with teachers, parents, traditional authorities, school authorities and other education stakeholders to improve the quality of education and promote the welfare of children across the Municipality.The engagement further highlighted the importance of sustained investment in education, not only through infrastructure and learning resources, but also through the creation of an environment in which children are encouraged to learn, innovate, develop their talents and aspire to greater heights.The leadership of the Effutu Municipal Assembly expressed confidence that through continued collaboration with the Education Directorate and other stakeholders, the Municipality can further strengthen educational outcomes and create better opportunities for its young people.As pupils settled into their classrooms for the new academic year, the message from the Assembly was clear: every child deserves the opportunity to learn, every teacher deserves the support to teach effectively, and every stakeholder has a role to play in building the future of Effutu.The “My First Day at School” visit therefore served not merely as a ceremonial reopening activity, but as a reaffirmation of the Municipality’s commitment to putting children, education and sustainable human development at the heart of its agenda.
