The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, has led a high-level delegation of the Effutu Municipal Assembly on a comprehensive inspection of ongoing development projects at the Don Bosco Catholic Basic School, reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to quality infrastructure, value for money and improved educational outcomes within the Municipality.The inspection, undertaken on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, formed part of the Assembly’s continuous monitoring and supervision of development projects to ensure that public investments are executed according to approved specifications, completed within agreed timelines and ultimately deliver the intended benefits to residents.The delegation included the Effutu Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Issah Baffoe, officials of the Municipal Assembly and other relevant stakeholders.Among the key projects inspected were a six-unit classroom block, which is approximately 95 percent complete, and a mechanized borehole fitted with a water treatment plant designed to provide safe and potable water to the school community.The delegation first inspected the six-unit classroom block, which is at an advanced stage of completion. The inspection provided an opportunity for the MCE and his team to assess the quality of work executed, examine completed and outstanding components, and engage the contractor on the measures required to bring the facility to completion.The project is expected to significantly expand classroom accommodation at the school and contribute to creating a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah commended the contractor and workers for the progress achieved so far, describing the near-completion of the project as an encouraging development for the school and the Municipality.He, however, stressed that the remaining works must be completed within the agreed timeframe and strictly in accordance with the required technical specifications.“We are encouraged by the progress made so far, but we must ensure that the final stage of the project receives the same attention to detail as the earlier stages. Quality must never be sacrificed in the rush to complete a project.”The MCE reiterated that the Assembly remained committed to ensuring that development projects undertaken within the Municipality were delivered efficiently, sustainably and to the benefit of the people.He urged the contractor to sustain the current pace of work while ensuring that every outstanding component was properly executed before the facility was handed over for use.According to him, the completion of the classroom block would represent another important step in the Assembly’s efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and support a better learning experience for pupils in the Municipality.The delegation subsequently inspected the construction of a mechanized borehole equipped with a water treatment plant, another critical intervention intended to improve water access at the school.The facility is expected to provide the school community with a reliable source of safe and potable water, thereby supporting improved hygiene, sanitation and the general wellbeing of pupils and staff.Hon. Rev. Mensah underscored the importance of safe drinking water in schools, noting that access to potable water was fundamental to creating a healthy and conducive environment for teaching and learning.He emphasized that the Assembly’s development agenda went beyond the provision of physical structures to ensuring that schools had the essential facilities required to support the holistic development and welfare of pupils.The MCE therefore called on the school authorities and the surrounding community to take ownership of the water facility and ensure that it was properly maintained once it became fully operational.He noted that sustained community ownership and responsible maintenance would be essential to preserving the investment and ensuring that the facility continued to serve generations of pupils.Briefing the delegation on the status of the projects, the contractor outlined the various works completed and highlighted the outstanding activities required to bring both the classroom block and water facility to full functionality.He assured the MCE and the Assembly that the remaining works would be addressed promptly and that the projects would be delivered in accordance with the required standards.The contractor also expressed appreciation to the Assembly for its regular monitoring, supervision and engagement throughout the construction process, noting that such oversight had contributed to keeping the projects on course.The inspection further demonstrated the Assembly’s proactive approach to project monitoring and its determination to ensure that development interventions translate into tangible improvements in the lives of residents.Rather than waiting until projects are completed before assessing their performance, the Assembly’s regular on-site inspections provide an opportunity to identify challenges early, engage contractors directly, verify progress and insist on corrective measures where necessary.This approach forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to accountability, transparency, quality assurance and value for money in the implementation of public projects.The development projects at Don Bosco Catholic Basic School are expected to make a meaningful contribution to improving the educational environment within the Municipality once completed and fully operational.The six-unit classroom block will provide additional learning spaces, while the treated borehole water facility will strengthen access to safe water and support improved health and hygiene conditions within the school.The inspection therefore served not only as a routine project-monitoring exercise but also as a reaffirmation of the Effutu Municipal Assembly’s determination to ensure that public resources are translated into quality infrastructure and essential services that directly benefit communities.With the projects nearing completion, the Assembly has reiterated its resolve to maintain close supervision until all outstanding works are satisfactorily addressed and the facilities are ready for safe and effective use.The exercise underscores the Assembly’s continuing commitment to building an efficient, accountable and development-oriented local government system in which every public investment is carefully monitored and every completed project delivers maximum value to the people of Effutu.
