A total of 15,817 students of the University of Education Winneba (UEW) have graduated with various honours at the 28th Congregation of the university held from Monday, January 22 to Friday, January 27, 2024 at Winneba.14,858 students out of the number representing 93.9% were awarded with first degrees with 227 students representing 1.4% receiving diploma certificates and 732 representing 4.7% awarded with postgraduate degrees.The University authorities used the congregation period to take stock of its activities, highlighted exclusive products, including graduation class as well as updating its cherished stakeholders.Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the President of Ghana to climax the ceremony on Saturday, January 27, 2024, the Effutu Municipal Chief, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim challenged the graduands to be critical thinkers with compassion and act as leaders in their own small ways to enable them contribute immensely to the development of mother Ghana.He advised the graduands to carry with them, not just the knowledge and skills gained from the university but also the values and principles that undergird the University of Education, Winneba.Hon. Zubairu Kassim implored the fresh graduates to uphold these principles in both their personal and professional lives to help improve their neighbourhoods and the country as a whole.He challenged the graduating students to use their knowledge and skills acquired after undergoing the requisite pragmatic training at the University of Education, Winneba to tackle head-on the difficulties confronting Ghana including an economic downturn and the rising unemployment.Hon. Zubairu Kassim intimated that President Akuffo Addo was committed to creating a conducive atmosphere for all to contribute their quota in making Ghana a better place for all.Out of the number first degree graduates, 961 students (6.5%) were admitted to first class whiles 4,545(30.6%) had second class upper and 5,828 students (39.2%) having second class lower.
