REPORT ON HON. MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE’S TOUR OF SOME COMMUNITIES ON 16TH MARCH 2021

The Municipal Chief Executive Hon John B. Ninson on Wednesday 16th of March embarked on tour of some communities to interact with them. The communities are Low Cost, Ansaful, Okomfoadae, New Winneba, Penkye, Akosua Village, Mun. Wide, and Domeabra.

In his addressing to the various chiefs and people in those communities the MCE said the Assembly has decided to rebuild a number of classroom blocks that have been abandoned by the previous government.  The projects are

REACTIONS, SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS

 Mr. Joseph Kanrah a trader expressed concern that there are no accredited revenue collectors from the assembly in a number of communities a situation he said makes it difficult for them to honour their tax obligations as required of them. He therefore suggested that revenue collectors should be assigned to the communities.

A section of the residents called on the assembly to reciprocate the efforts of the citizens who are paying their development levies/ property rates by providing them with social amenities such as electricity, boreholes, classroom blocks among others.

Mr. Isaac Mensah Sarpong, a welder at Domeabra suggested that the assembly have an arrangement that will make it easy for them to pay their taxes in installment.

 Madam Afua Amponsah a fish monger at Domeabra called on the assembly to resource the National Commission for Civic Education and the Information Services Department to enable them sensitize the various communities in the Municipality on the need to pay their taxes as well as benefits to be reaped from the assembly.

Mr. Raymond Ghartey of Penkye appealed to the Assembly and the Government to increase the number of schools in the feeding program to include more communities to enhance the increment in enrollment in schools.

Madam Araba Dontoh of Ansaful called on the MCE to work hard to ensure that the number of communities benefiting from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) is increased in the Municipality.      

Opanyin Kojo Dikatia of Gyatakrom appealed to the MCE to prioritize the extension of potable water to most of the rural communities in the Municipality as well as superintend over the completion of water projects that had stalled for some time now to avoid the outbreak of water borne diseases in the area.
