The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Rev. Atta Mensah, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, joined hundreds of residents for the observation of the ‘Municipal Sanitation Day’ in Winneba. The clean-up exercise which commenced in the early hours of Saturday brought together officers from the Effutu Municipal Assembly, the Security Agencies, institutions, Assembly Members, traditional leaders, Waste management service providers, and various stakeholders who exhibited commitment to enhancing sanitation standards in the Municipality.The initiative, reintroduced in the Municipality aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness and hygiene in the entire Effutu area. The exercise for the month of June included various activities, such as collecting sand along roadside curbs, sweeping streets and public spaces, weeding overgrown areas, and collecting general waste within the Winneba township.The Effutu MCE and his entourage were instrumental throughout the exercise which began at the Winneba Traffic Light, through the Abasraba Community and ended at the Office premises of the Ghana Immigration Service and the Physical Planning Department of the Effutu Municipal Assembly. Addressing participants after the clean-up Exercise, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah emphasized the pressing sanitation challenges facing the Municipality and the urgent need to address them to improve public health, protect the environment, and enhance the overall well-being of all citizens of Effutu.He intimated that maintaining a clean and healthy environment is a shared responsibility and urged individuals, businesses, and communities to contribute to the national effort to improve sanitation.Hon. Atta Mensah pledged his commitment at leading the charge for the promotion of the Municipal Sanitation Day activities by encouraging participation in the monthly clean-up exercises and ensuring the enforcement of sanitation by-laws. The Effutu Mayor assured that his administration will continuously collaborate with the various stakeholders, including traditional leaders, religious groups, and community members, to foster a culture of cleanliness and address sanitation-related issues in the Municipality.
