The President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Effutu Municipal Assembly on Thursday, June 5, 2025, Reverend Atta Mensah secured 100 percent endorsement from the Assembly, made up of 18 elected and eight government appointees.Dignitaries at the event included the Central Regional Minister, Ekow Okyere Eduamoah Panyin, Central Regional Chairman for the ruling National Democratic Congress, Professor Richard Asiedu, immediate past Municipal Chief Executive of Effutu, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, Constituency Executives of both National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party Executives as well as Religious Leaders and Civil Society Organizations with heavy security deployment to maintain law and order. The Special Meeting presided over by the Presiding Member for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Quansah saw Officials of the Effutu Electoral Commission led by its Director, Ms. Stephanie Henrietta Obeng-Darko supervised the election. Rev. Atta Mensah after receiving a unanimous endorsement from all the 26 members of the Assembly, expressed his appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to execute his mandate in accordance with the stated rules and regulations attached to the office. He was grateful to the Member of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo- Markin and the Assembly Members for overwhelming acceptance. Rev. Atta Mensah promised to work with the traditional council, assembly members, unit committee members, and staff of the Effutu Municipal Assembly to develop the area to meet the dreams and aspirations of the Effutu community. Swearing in the MCE Elect, the Central Regional Minster, Hon. Ekow Okyere Eduamoah Panyin urged the assembly members eschew partisan politics and unite to develop the Area, adding that, the Assembly Members play a crucial role to play by supporting the MCE to address the many challenges the entire people in the area face to better their lots.The Assembly had earlier on Monday, May 05, 2025 voted to reject an earlier nominee, Mr. Abraham Arthur after he secured only nine (9) “YES” votes with seventeen (17) “NO” votes representing 34.6% and 65.38% respectively.
