The Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA) has presented several quantities of food items to the Effutu Traditional Council and the two main Asafo groups in Winneba to support them in the celebration of this year’s Aboakyir festival scheduled to commence from Saturday, April 27 to Sunday May, 5, 2024.
The items included bags of rice and sugar, cartons of milk, as well as an undisclosed amount of money.
The Chief Executive of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, made the presentation on behalf of the Assembly at Winneba on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Addressing the two main Asafo groups, Tuafo and Dentefo at separate presentations, Hon. Zubairu Kassim, said the items were to help in the preparation of the traditional journey to the sacred forest for the deer hunting expedition of the festival.
He acknowledged the contribution of the Asafo groups towards a successful organization and celebration hence the decision to support them in that regard.
He admonished the youth value the atmosphere of total peace being enjoyed in the area by working towards protecting the security of the area during and after the Aboakyir season.
Hon Zubairu Kassim urged them to continue to go about their normal activities leading to the celebration in a peaceful manner to help bring the shine out of the occasion and project Effutu’s culture and traditions on the international map.
The Effutu MCE further stressed that all necessary measures had been put in place to ensure a peaceful Aboakyir celebration.
He urged the Effutu people to celebrate in unity and shun violence, adding that peace was crucial in ensuring the successful celebration of the festival.
The Assembly also made similar donations to the Queen mothers in Winneba to support their operations in the lead up to the celebration of the festival in the 2024 traditional year.
At the Effutu Traditional Council, the Paramount Chief, Nenyi Ghartey VII after receiving the items, thanked the assembly for the donation and annual support provided to celebrate the festival.
He gave an assurance that the council was going to do everything necessary for a successful celebration.
While urging the Effutu people and the general public to join in the celebrations, Nenyi Ghartey VII advised them to adhere to the laid down directives for the achievement of total peace before, during and after the celebration.
In the company of the Effutu MCE to present the items were the Municipal Finance Officer, Mr. Enoch Obeng, Municipal Planning Officer, Abubakar Saddique Adam, Municipal Information Officer, Charles Baah Aboagye, the Municipal Budget Analyst, Stephen Kyei and the Municipal Procurement Officer, Edward Chapman.
