The Winneba Branch of the Ghana First Supporters Union has lauded the Mayor of Winneba, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim for his continuous commitment at promoting and supporting sports activities in the Effutu Municipality.
The exuberant supporters’ group of the various National teams in the country clad in T’ Shirts designed with the national colours of Ghana gave the expression of gratitude when a delegation from the union paid a courtesy call on the Effutu on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at his office in Winneba.
The President of the Winneba Branch of the Union, Eldad Newlove Bonnie noted that the group was committed to organizing Ghanaians from all parts of the country to offer the necessary support to all the National teams of Ghana towards making the country an enviable brand and a giant in the game not only in Africa but the World at large.
He said that the MCE’s dedication and support for football and sports development within the Effutu Municipality had not only elevated the spirit of the game but also provided invaluable opportunities for aspiring talents in the area.
Mr. Bonnie and his group seized the opportunity to formally request of the Effutu MCE to serve as a patron of the Union to bring to bear his wealth of experience to impact positively on the development and success of the Association.
Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim whiles welcoming the delegation said supporters play a vital role in boosting morale and creating an energetic atmosphere during matches to motivate and inspire players.
Recalling his contribution as a supporter of the Black Stars during the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt and the 2006 World Cup in Germany respectively with nostalgia, Hon. Zubairu Kassim expressed his personal commitment and that of the Assembly towards working hand- in- hand with all the relevant stakeholders for the promotion of sports in Effutu.
He advised the members of the group to guard against using the name and purpose of the Union for personal gains, a development he said could derail their focus and eventually collapse the Association.
