A ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a multi- purpose children’s hospital at Gyingyinadze, a community in the Effutu Municipality was on Friday, October 19, 2023 held to allow for the commencement of the project expected to serve specialist cases of children in the central region and beyond.The construction of the Regional Childrens Hospital which when completed would be the first of its kind in the Central Region, offering specialist medical care for children and young people up to age 18 years is in fulfilment of a campaign pledge of the Member of Parliament and Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin.The First Phase of the three-phase project to be executed by Jaycom Constructions and anticipated to be completed by December 2024 will include an Out Patient Department (OPD), Emergency and Surgical Units, Male and Female Recovery Wards as well as Male and Female wards with a play area for the children.The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim who cut the sod on behalf of the hardworking Member of Parliament noted that, the commencement of the project marked an important step towards the construction of a state-of-the art Childrens hospital which would help solve the health needs of children not only in the Effutu Municipality but the central region and Ghana as a whole. He said that the facility was a significant indication of the commitment of the Effutu Law Maker to advance the improvement of public health infrastructure in the Effutu Municipality.Hon. Zubairu Kassim intimated that the sighting of the project at Gyingyinadze in the Effutu Municipality was necessary to aid residents have access to quality healthcare for their wards and reduce the stress in travelling for long distances to receive healthcare for children. The Effutu MCE pledged the continuous readiness of the Member of Parliament to lead the development agenda of the Municipality towards the realization of the Effutu Dream to meet the needs of the people.The Consultant for the project, Engineer Frederick Botchwey from the Plan Permit Consult said that, the sight for the project was blessed with a water body which will be worked on and kept as part of the design.He said that the comprehensive project when completed would allow for the involvement of the application of management and scientific techniques of offering quality health care delivery with a potential of addressing specialist medical conditions and cases among children to bring about change.The Odikro of the Gyingyinadze Community, Nana Abban III, on his part lauded the MP for his kind gesture at sighting the hospital in the area and charged on all well- meaning citizens to continue to support the good works of the Effutu MP who he said continues to boost the people’s confidence in his leadership with prayers to deliver more to the Effutu people.He assured that the exemplary initiative of the MP to improve healthcare delivery in Effutu and beyond will be supported fully by the people of the area to ensure the successful completion and utilization of the facility.
