Two Basic Schools in the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region have benefitted from the benevolence of the Member of Parliament and Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin. The law maker on Wednesday, October 18 2023, donated 300 mono desks and ten teachers’ tables with chairs to the Unipra North Basic School and the Ayirebi Yankson Basic School through the Effutu Municipal Education Directorate to enhance effective teaching and learning in the area.The beneficiary schools, Unipra North Basic School and Ayirebi Yankson Basic School received two hundred (200) and one hundred (100) mono desks respectively at short ceremonies held at the forecourt of the two schools.Presenting the desks on behalf of the Effutu Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim noted that the donation forms part of the MP’s efforts at promoting quality education in the Municipality.He said that education continuous to be a priority of the MP’s preferential policies and has always compelled him to respond quickly to calls to help address educational needs in his constituency.Hon. Zubairu Kassim urged the authorities to work to ensure that the desks were kept and taken care off to prolong their lifespan. Madam Diana Anderson, the Effutu Municipal Director of Education, commended Hon. Afenyo-Markin for the prompt educational intervention, adding that, the donation would go a long way to tackle inadequate furniture challenges in the schools.Madam Anderson assured that teachers in Effutu would continue to sacrifice and impact knowledge in children to build a robust educational system in the Municipality.
