October 4, 2023

The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 presented waste bins to eighteen (18) electoral areas, two (2) health facilities, four zonal councils (4) and two educational institutions in the Effutu Municipality as part of efforts towards enhancing cleanliness as well as promoting responsible waste disposal practices to help improve waste management in the area as well as encourage waste segregation to improve the sanitation in the area. The waste bins numbering 66, were donated by the Winneba Ministers Fellowship (WIMFEL) Group, made up of Pastors from some selected churches in Winneba to the Effutu Municipal Assembly for onward distribution to the communities to help fight insanitary conditions within the Effutu enclave. The Chief Executive of Municipal Assembly (EMA), Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, who presented the bins at a brief ceremony at Winneba said, the Assembly was committed to ensuring that the Municipality becomes a clean area and would continue to support residents to manage their waste.   Hon. Zubairu Kassim observed that some residents in the communities mostly burn their waste in the open whiles others dump theirs in drains as a result of the unavailability of waste bins. It is in line with this that the Assembly in partnership with private individuals and institutions have prioritized the sanitation fight with the donation and presentation of waste bins to communities and institutions within the Municipality free of charge as a means of working to contribute to improving the quality of air and sanitary conditions in the communities.  He charged the communities to use the bins to serve the purpose of fighting indiscriminate dumping of waste for a good sanitary environment desirable for all. The Assembly Member for the Zongo Electoral Area, Hon. Sani Mohammed, on behalf of the beneficiary communities and institutions lauded the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly, for working towards the attainment of a clean environment and assured that the bins would be used for its rightful purpose.
