EFFUTU MP HOLDS CAREER FAIR FOR 2023 BECE GRADUATES

The Office of the Effutu Member of Parliament and Deputy Leader of Ghana’s 8th Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin, on Saturday, August 19, 2023 organized a Career Fair and Dinner for the 2023 Junior High School Graduates in the Effutu Municipality.The Fair which brought together 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates in the Effutu Municipality provided a forum for an engagement and interaction between stakeholders to identify and seek solutions to problems encountered in the acquisition of senior high education.Resource persons drawn form the Ghana Education Service, the University of Education Winneba, the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Prisons Service took the graduates through Career Orientation, SHS Selection Guidance, Girl Child Education, TVET/STEM Education as well as the Adolescent and Crime.Announcing the purpose of the gathering, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, noted that the Member of Parliament prioritized the educational needs of the future generation and saw the Fair as a way of exposing the participating students to knowing their strengths and weaknesses to aid in the selection of available programmes in the Senior High Schools to direct their career path in the future.He said that the Fair dubbed the “2023 JHS LEAVERS FAIR” which is an initiative of Hon. Alexander Afenyo- Markin was commissioned to respond to the challenges many students face in assessing higher education as well as choosing the right courses relevant to the chosen careers of interest.Addressing the gathering, the Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon, Alexander Afenyo- Markin, quoted the scriptures in Proverbs 22: 6 to support his call for the child to be trained up in the way he should go, so he doesn’t depart from it when he is old.He expressed optimism that the future of the country will be built on strong foundations if the youth are well motivated, guided, counselled and coached in the right direction.Hon. Afenyo-Markin pledged to commit more resources to support needy students from the constituency who excel in the 2023 BECE to pursue higher education to turn the fortunes of their families to affect the Municipality and Ghana positively for the realization of the Effutu Dream.The Member of Parliament who has already completed the construction and commissioning of sixteen (16) Libraries in the Municipality for use by students in the area vowed to ensure the completion of nine (9) more to achieve the targeted construction and furnishing of twenty-five (25) libraries in the Municipality by December 31, 2023. He announced that he has lobbied for three more-day senior high schools to be constructed at Nsuekyir, Ateitu and New Winneba to add up to the only Public Senior High School in the area (Winneba Secondary School).On his part the Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, lauded the Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament for the exemplary leadership he is offering to bring development to the Effutu people. He pledged to replicate the “Effutu Dream” in Yendi to have the “Yendi Dream” with the mindset of solving the social problems in the area by building the capacity of the youth to position them well for greater challenges in the future to bring about development.
