EMA HOLDS SECOND ORDINARY MEETING FOR 2023

The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 held the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Seventh Assembly at the Assembly’s conference Hall to outline the activities and plans for the Municipality.

The meeting which was presided over by Hon. Elizabeth Awo Senah (Presiding Member), with Mr. Banini Dzorgbenyui Kwadzo, (Municipal Coordinating Director), Assembly Members and Heads of the various Government Departments, Units and Agencies in attendance also discussed the Executive Committee report of the Assembly.

Presenting the sessional address to the House, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, announced that work on the completion of the Municipal Assembly Complex has progressed according to the established schedule and is awaiting an official handing over by the

contractor. The development according to the MCE will go a long way to solve accommodation challenges when fully completed and handed over.

On the sister- City relations with the Charlottesville Group in the United States of America, Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that he recently led a four-member delegation from the Assembly to the USA to among other things engage with the Mayor of Charlottesville to explore new avenues for mutual growth and development. The team also met with the local chamber of commerce to lay down the groundwork for potential trade and investment opportunities between the two cities, adding that such dialogues have the potential for paving the way for economic progress and shared responsibility.

Commending the Charlottesville Group for continuously coming in to support various sectors of the Effutu economy, Hon. Zubairu Kassim announced that the Municipality has again benefited from a donation of an Ambulance from the Charlottesville- Albermarle Rescue Squad to support the operations of the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba to improve health care delivery.

According to him, the act of benevolence by the sister-city partners in Charlottesville is not only to enhance healthcare capabilities but to also showcase the positive change that can be achieved through cross-border collaborations. The Ambulance he said, is expected to be in the country by October this year.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim pledged his commitment to continue to run an open door and all- inclusive administration to enhance knowledge sharing in the build up to an improved Municipality.
