Members of the Central Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) on Sunday, April 30, 2023, turned up in their numbers at the NUPS-G Auditorium at Winneba for the 101st Presbytery Session thanksgiving service to fellowship and give thanks to God with a call on Christians to reflect on the ways of Christ who died on the cross to save mankind and the society.
Addressing the congregation who had filled the auditorium radiating in their Presbyterian cloth in their traditional colours of white, blue and red to join hearts and minds together to worship and celebrate God’s faithfulness and goodness, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly and Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, made a passionate appeal to Christians to recommit themselves to the values, compassion and service taught by Jesus Christ to impact on the society.
He praised the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for being at the forefront of efforts towards building a better country with support to various sectors of the economy including health and education.
Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim called on all Christians to have faith in efforts by the Government and support moves geared towards addressing the challenges facing the nation.
He described the theme for the celebration “ Christ in you, the hope of Glory” as very appropriate, as it sought to remind all of the transformative power of faith in their lives adding
that hope and glory could only be found in the grace and mercy of God and not the strength and accomplishments of man.
In his sermon, Rev. Fiifi Foh Arkhurst, urged Christians to bang their hopes in Jesus Christ in the trying moments of economic downturn of the country for a major recovery to salvage the situation which he said was not peculiar to only Ghana but the world at large.
According to him, in spite of the many socio-economic challenges bedeviling the nation and the world at large, Christians will soon taste victory to overcome them if they remain resolute with their faith and hope in Jesus Christ as the leader.
”Let us continue to have faith and confidence in God to bring an end to the challenges we face as a nation.”
Rev. Fiifi Arkhurst further challenged the members of the Central Presbytery to create a relationship of prayer with God without ceasing to tap into his mercies and grace as worthy ambassadors of the Christian faith.
