EMA HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS MEETING TO IRON OUT GREY AREAS FOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION

An Emergency stakeholders’ meeting on the construction of the New Winneba Factory Road was on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 convened to address the grey areas preparatory to the flag- off massive road construction by the Government of Ghana.

The meeting which was attended by all participants including the Municipal Chief Executive, the Presiding Member, traditional leaders, the Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Water Company Limited, Town and Country Planning Department, and other officers from the Effutu Municipal Assembly as well as Engineers from the Ghana Highway Authority, Feeder Roads and Urban Roads allowed for all bottle necks affecting the smooth construction of the road to be addressed. These include light poles, pipe lines and structures earmarked to be affected by the construction work.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, said that the meeting was necessary in view of the fact that some properties that fell on the Right- of – Way would need to go for the project to be realized.

He noted that as a responsible Government that believed in stakeholder engagement, the NPP Government will carry the people along in the execution of the project to benefit all.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim whiles showing commitment to seeing a smooth take off of the project noted that there can be no gain without some level of pain and discomfort and therefore rallied the people to come along to achieve the desired right-of-way.

He urged for the understanding and cooperation of the residents at New Winneba to ensure all the conceivable comfort that the project will bring when completed.

He assured the chiefs and people that the Assembly will engage the contractor to ensure that the necessary customary rights are performed to allow for the construction which will link the New Tissue Factory under construction at the place to the community and the rest of the Municipality as a whole and open up the local economy to create jobs for the teaming youth.

Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim later led the team of Engineers and the construction firm General Constructions to inspect roads captured for construction in a 4.5kilometer road contract awarded by the Government of Ghana for road works in the Effutu Municipality.

The road projects being executed by General Constructions will witness the tarring of road networks including Vertinary- Olympic End (1.8kilometers), Vertinary – Gyatakrom road (450meters), NVTI Enclave road (750 meters), New Winneba (1.1kilometers) and New Ateitu road (400meters).

The Municipal Chief Executive and his team also inspected the progress of work at the Winneba By-Pass Road construction being executed by KROS Project Limited
