EFFUTU MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY TOP MANAGEMENT PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON THE PARAMOUNT CHIEF OF EFFUTU MUNICIPAL TRADITIONAL AREA

As part of efforts towards building consensus and a formidable union as well as bridging the gap between the Effutu Municipal Assembly and the Effutu Traditional Council, the Municipal Coordinating Director for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Mr. Francis Asiedu, on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 led other top management Members of the Assembly to pay a courtesy call on Nenyi Ghartey VII, Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area at his Palace in Winneba.

He was accompanied by Messrs. Enoch Obeng (Municipal Finance Officer), Emmanuel Yeboah (Municipal Works Engineer), Stephen Kyei (Municipal Budget Analyst), Abubakar Saddique Adams (Municipal Planning Officer), Charles Baah Aboagye (Municipal Information Officer), Miss Tawakalitu Raji (Internal Auditor), and  Madam Maame Esi Aikins (Assistant Director).

In an address, Mr. Francis Asiedu noted that the meeting was important to help build consensus and collaboration between the two institutions to push forward the development agenda of the Municipality.

He said that the Assembly viewed the Traditional Council as a major stakeholder in its development agenda whose rich contributions would go a long way to aid the Assembly in the realizations of its set goals.

Mr. Francis Asiedu called for the support of the Effutu Traditional Council in achieving the Assembly’s revenue targets for the 2023 Financial Year to enable it extend development to all areas in the Municipality.

Nenyi Ghaartey VII, Paramount Chief of the Traditional Area, responding to the issues pledged the unflinching support of the Traditional Council for the development plans of the Municipal Assembly.

He charged the Assembly to widen its tax net to target businesses carried out in the night to expand its revenue base to realize more revenue to support its development programmes.

Nenyi Ghartey VII entreated the Assembly to apply the law in dealing with persons who default in honouring their tax obligations to the Assembly to serve as deterrent to others with a firm pledge that the traditional Council close its doors to residents who may need the assistance of the Council to impress upon the Assembly to drop charges against them for defaulting in the payment of taxes including market tolls and property rates.

The Meeting discussed matters such as security, revenue mobilization, infrastructure development as well as means of deepening the relationship between the two insitutions to bring development to the area.
