The Effutu Municipal Assembly has intensified its drive to improve basic education infrastructure with the commissioning of a three-unit classroom block and a mechanised borehole fitted with a water treatment plant at Unipra South C Basic School.The intervention, which is expected to provide additional classroom space and improve access to safe water for pupils and teachers, formed part of a broader infrastructure development agenda being pursued by the Government through the Municipal Assembly to create more conducive conditions for teaching and learning across the municipality.The facilities were commissioned on Wednesday by the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, in the presence of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII, education officials, traditional and religious leaders, departmental heads, teachers and pupils.The newly completed facility was dedicated in honour of Neenyi Ghartey VII, with the Omanhene expressing appreciation to the Assembly for the gesture and the recognition accorded him.Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rev. Atta Mensah, said the project demonstrated the Assembly’s commitment to providing the infrastructure needed to support effective teaching and learning.He noted that education remained central to the development of the municipality and stressed that providing schools with appropriate classrooms and essential amenities was critical to creating an environment in which children could learn, develop their talents and prepare for the future.The provision of the mechanised borehole and treatment plant is also expected to strengthen access to safe water at the school, with potential benefits for hygiene, sanitation and the general wellbeing of the school community.The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere, commended the initiative and emphasised the importance of quality infrastructure in supporting educational outcomes.He called for continued cooperation among the Assembly, education authorities, traditional leaders, religious bodies, teachers, parents and communities to sustain investment in education.The Minister urged pupils to take their studies seriously and aspire to become responsible citizens and future leaders who would contribute to the development of Effutu and Ghana.He also charged teachers to remain committed to their responsibility of educating and nurturing the children, while encouraging school authorities and pupils to protect the newly provided facilities.“The facilities belong to the community, and everyone has a responsibility to protect and maintain them so that they can serve generations of pupils,” the Minister emphasised.The commissioning was followed by an inspection tour of ongoing educational infrastructure projects at Methodist Basic School and Don Bosco Catholic Basic School.At Methodist Basic School, the inspection team assessed the construction of a two-unit Kindergarten block and a mechanised borehole with a water treatment plant.At Don Bosco Catholic Basic School, the team inspected the construction of six-unit classroom blocks for boys and girls, together with a mechanised borehole and water treatment plant.The inspection enabled the Regional Minister and the MCE to engage contractors and project stakeholders directly on the progress of work and the need to maintain the required construction standards.Hon. Eduamoah Ekow Panyin Okyere urged contractors working on the projects to use appropriate and quality materials and ensure that the works were executed according to the required specifications.He further called for the projects to be completed on schedule so that pupils and teachers could begin benefiting from the facilities.The Minister’s emphasis on quality and timely completion reflects the importance attached to ensuring that public investments translate into durable infrastructure capable of serving their intended purpose over the long term.The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Isaah Baffoe, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Majeed Ayariga, representatives of the Christian Council, Traditional Council and Islamic Council, as well as departmental heads, teachers and pupils, participated in the activities.Their presence highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing the educational needs of communities.For pupils at Unipra South C, the commissioning represents a tangible improvement to their school environment, while the ongoing projects at Methodist and Don Bosco hold the prospect of providing additional learning spaces and essential amenities when completed.The development also underscores the Assembly’s approach of combining project delivery with active monitoring, commissioning completed facilities while simultaneously inspecting projects still under construction.The Effutu Municipal Assembly’s latest education interventions come at a time when improving the quality of basic education infrastructure remains an important development priority.Beyond the physical structures, the projects represent an investment in the children who will eventually become the teachers, professionals, entrepreneurs, public servants and community leaders of tomorrow.The Assembly has therefore reaffirmed its commitment to working with educational authorities, traditional leaders, religious organisations, contractors and communities to improve school infrastructure and provide essential facilities for pupils and teachers.With the completion of the Unipra South C facilities and continued monitoring of projects at Methodist and Don Bosco Basic Schools, Effutu is seeking to translate its infrastructure plans into visible interventions that directly affect the daily educational experience of children across the municipality.The message from the day’s activities was clear: quality education requires not only dedicated teachers and motivated pupils, but also classrooms, water, sanitation and other facilities that allow learning to take place in a safe and supportive environment.
