The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has made a significant contribution to the Ghana Health Service in the Effutu Municipality by donating a Brand-New Toyota Hiace Bus, motorbikes and other office equipment to the Municipal Health Directorate at Atekyedo near Winneba.The equipment included Desktop Computers, Laptops, Printers, Air Conditioners and other office gadgets needed for the effective running of the Directorate.This gesture, as Hon. Afenyo- Markin explained, was intended to enhance the operational capabilities of the outfit to boost healthcare delivery in the Municipality.At a short ceremony to make the donations on Friday, November 29, 2024 in the company of the Paramount Chief for the Effutu Traditional Area, Nenyi Gharty VII and Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, the Law Maker who doubles as the Majority Leader of the 8th Parliament noted that the support was in response to a request for a staff Buss and other critical office logistics made on him by the directorate.According to him, the motorbikes will help health workers to deliver quality healthcare services to the people in the constituency.The Municipal Director of Health, Dr. Paulette Brown who received the donation on behalf of the Directorate expressed gratitude to the MP for the gesture.She noted that the items would go a long way to help the outfit in discharging its duties for improved healthcare delivery in the Municipality.Dr. Brown assured that the items would be used for the intended purpose with proper maintenance for longevity of the machines. In a related development, Hon. Afenyo-Markin led the inspection of the on-going construction of a 200- bed Children’s Hospital at Gyangyanadze in the Effutu Municipality.The hospital which would be the first of its kind in the region and the nation as a whole when completed is expected to provide special care for children.Hon. Afenyo-Markin whiles expressing satisfaction work done so far on the project announced that the hospital will be equipped the needed medical equipment and facilities to take care of the health needs of children.He intimated that the facility when completed will take care of medical conditions of children in the Effutu constituency as well as adjoining communities who are often referred to other hospitals to receive medical care.
