FIRST SITE MEETING ON WINNEBA-KASOA HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION HELD IN WINNEBA

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on Thursday, September 5, 2024 joined officials from the Ghana Highway Authority and other stakeholders for a site meeting on the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Winneba- Kasoa highway.
The meeting on the two -lane dual carriage road construction which commenced with an inspection of the work done on project so far with officials asking critical questions and offering suggestions to facilitate better communication and a shared sense of purpose needed for the successful execution of the project.
The project includes interchanges at Gomoa Akotsi and Budumburam to facilitate vehicles from the Accra section heading to Cape Coast with service roads provided for commercial drivers in the urbanized section of the stretch where traffic is heavy.
The Resident Engineer for Solint Consult, the Consulting firm for the project, Engineer Nii Noi Nunoo noted that the construction scheduled to be completed with 24months is intended to ease the heavy traffic on the stretch and open it up for opportunities through the establishment of industries.
He expressed optimism in the contractor’s ability to deliver the work specification within the scheduled time of the contract.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive on his part made a strong case for the residents in the Municipality whose livelihoods have gravely been affected by the construction. This according to him included destruction to pipe-lines that supply potable water to household in some parts of Winneba and its environs.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim appealed for action to be expedited on compensation packages for persons affected by the operations of the firm undertaking the road construction project in the Effutu Municipality.
The construction firm executing the project gave a detailed and elaborate description of the scope of work being undertaken on the 30km stretch of road including earthwork filling, cut excavation and construction, river bridge construction, pavement structure layer as well as safety management on site.
The report also highlighted the overall progress schedule, construction objectives and the current construction progress.
The Meeting also had in attendance the District Chief Executive for the Goamoa East District Assembly, Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm and representatives from some of the telecommunication companies in the country whose operation are affected by the construction work.
