EMA HOLDS FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING IN 2024 MAY 29, 2024

The 8th Assembly of the Effutu Municipal Assembly (EMA) held its maiden General Assembly Meeting for the year 2024 to outline key achievements of the past year, review ongoing projects, and plan future initiatives.  
 
The meeting, which marked the First Ordinary Meeting of the First Session of the Eighth Effutu Municipal Assembly, was presided over by the Presiding Member, Hon. Samuel Ghartey and attended by key stakeholders, including Assembly Members, Heads of Department, staff of the Assembly, and Civil Society Organizations. It also discussed issues on the order paper including the determination of the ex-gratia for the last Assembly as well as the Report of the Executive Committee of the Assembly.

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim in his sessional address, highlighted several successful programmes and activities aimed at improving the Municipality’s infrastructure and overall quality of life for its residents. 
 
Among these accomplishments were the donation of 300 chairs and desks to the Winneba Senior High School, the inauguration of a six- unit classroom block for the Winneba Senior High School named after the immediate past Headmistress, Mrs. Comfort Oti-Akenteng, the initiation for the construction of a Science Complex Building, and a presentation of 300 beds to the Winneba Technical Institute by the Effutu Member of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
 
Others included an ultra-modern ICT Laboratory, a Library and a Community Centre commissioned and handed over to the communities by the Effutu Law- maker who is also the Majority leader of the 8th Parliament of Ghana.

Touching on the Assembly’s revenue mobilization drive for the 2024 Financial year, the Effutu MCE outlined the strategies adopted to boost the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) of the Assembly. He said that the Assembly was collaborating with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to ensure efficient property rate collection through intensified sensitization on the payment of basic and property rates.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim also touched on the Assembly’s Fees, Licenses, Fines and Rents set to aid the realization of the set revenue targets of the Assembly. 
 
The Efftu Mayor also addressed issues relating to the security situation in the Municipality, the human resources and postings in and out of the Assembly, sanitation, various social interventions, as well as capacity building of staff and members of the Assembly. 
 
Hon. Zubairu Kassim ended with a call for unity and cooperation among Assembly Members and stakeholders towards addressing the challenges facing Effutu with emphasis on the importance of collective efforts in building a resilient and thriving Municipality.
