ROADS & HIGHWAYS MINISTER INPECTS ROADS IN CENTRAL REGION

The Minster of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso Boakye, as part of his tour of some road project sites in the Central Region on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 visited some communities in the region to inspect ongoing road construction works being executed by the Government of Ghana.
Municipalities and Districts visited included the Awutu Senya East Municipal, Awutu Senya District, Gomoa East District and Effutu Municipal Assemblies. Some of the projects were Kasoa CP, Walatu, and Opeikuma roads in the Kasoa township, the Kasoa- Ofankor and Bodwease road as well as the rehabilitation and dualization of the Kasoa- Winneba highway which all together form part of urban roads, Feeder Roads and Highway projects.
Briefing the media after the inspection tour, Hon. Asenso Boakye expressed satisfaction at the progress of work so far with a high sense of optimism that the projects when completed will greatly impact on the transportation and lives of persons in the region and beyond.
He said that the projects were aimed at improving the road networks and transportation system in the region as well as linking major cities from Kasoa, Winneba, Cape coast and Takoradi to shore up economic development.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye who was joined by the Minister for Fisheries and Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson told the media that the visit was to monitor the progress of work in the region to enable him acquaint himself with the realities on the ground.
He noted that Government was committed to enhancing the condition of roads the Central Region and across the country.
The Minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region intimated that the massive road construction currently on-going across the country was a clear manifestation of the Government’s commitment towards improving road infrastructure and transportation system in the country.
On the dualization of the Kasoa- Winneba Highway project, Hon. Asenso Boakye debunked rumours that the construction work was being funded by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) but was purely a Government of Ghana Funded project which was expected to be completed within 36months.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, who was part of the tour together with his colleagues from Awutu Senya East and Gomoa East lauded the Akuffo Addo/ Bawumia led administration for investing heavily in roads in the region to ease the stress of drivers and passengers on a daily basis.
He noted that the road projects when completed would enhance economic prospects and development of the areas, especially Winneba.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim appealed to road users and the entire public to exercise patience and rally behind the NPP government for more projects to transform the economy of Ghana as well as improve the lives of the people in it.
As part of the Minister’s tour of the Region were the Director of Communications at the Presidency and the ruling New Patriotic Party Parliamentary candidate for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, Mr. Eugene Arhin, Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West constituency, Hon. Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, and the former Member of Parliament for the Gomoa East Constituency who is also the 2024 parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Gomoa East constituency, Hon. Kojo Asemanyi.
