The Effutu Municipal Assembly in the Central Region on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 commissioned and handed over a New Satellite Market with WC Toilet Facilities constructed by the Assembly to the chiefs and people of Osobonpanyin, a community in the Municipality.
The project which forms part of Assembly’s efforts at improving the livelihoods of the people in that community as well as boost trade in the Municipality as a whole brought together the chiefs and community members of Osobonpanyin who beamed with joy over the successful construction and handing over of the project.
Commissioning the project, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim commended the chiefs and elders of the area for generously allocating the land for the construction of the satellite Market which according to him would go a long way to boost economic activities in the area, especially for traders.
He noted that the Government of President Akuffo Addo had kept faith with the people in all communities in Ghana by extending development to the people devoid of political biases.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim assured the community that his leadership was going to consider constructing a Lorry Park to open up the transport sector and business activities in the area.
He lauded the commitment of the people to the development of the area and Effutu as a whole and appealed to them to protect and maintain the commissioned market to serve the purpose for its construction.
Hinting of a possibility of a larger market construction to serve the entire Effutu Municipality, the Effutu MCE requested from the Chiefs to make Land available for more development projects which would conform with the Municipal Assembly’s commitment to advancing sustainable development initiatives in the Municipality.
The Chief of Osobonpanyin, Nenyi Ackon Gyamfi expressed the appreciation of the people to the Municipal Assembly for heeding to the request of the community for the construction of a market befitting the status of the area.
Nenyi Ackon Gyamfi heaped praises on the Effutu MCE for personally leading the equitable allocation of development projects to all communities in Effutu irrespective of an area’s political leanings, a development he said had contributed immensely to the progress of the Municipality.
He pledged to rally his subjects to ensure the upkeep and proper maintenance of the market including the designated area for the construction of a Lorry Park for the community.
