A highly anticipated meeting between the Effutu Municipal Assembly and NAG Fermont Company Limited, the construction firm undertaken road works for the dualization of the Winneba- Kasoa Highway for a collaborative effort from various authorities at ensuring a smooth progress of the project was held on Monday, March 25, 2024.
A team of Engineers from the Ghana Highways Authority led by Engineer Luke Dabuoh with the Survey and Design Division joined the meeting to discuss issues including the urgency of the project, constructional challenges as well as stakeholders’ engagement to assess the current ground conditions for a feasible plan for a successful execution of the project.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim bemoaned the company’s lack of proper community entry before the commencement of the project, alleged sand weaning activities by some staff of the company, as well as the alleged removal and confiscation of Bill Boards belonging to businesses without authorization.
He charged the construction firm to as a matter of urgency work closely with the relevant state agencies to fix the utility challenges created as a result of the activities of the construction works in the Effutu Municipality.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that the commencement of the project represented a significant milestone in addressing transportation challenges on the Winneba- Kasoa stretch and required coordinated efforts of multiple institutions and agencies such as the Effutu Municipal Assembly for a focused and determined approach to infrastructural development.
The Effutu MCE anticipated that the progression of the Winneba- Kasoa Highway dualization project will not only enhance connectivity but also contribute to the overall socioeconomic development of the area.
Engineer Luke Dabuoh on his part apologized for the late community entry and hinted on series of stakeholder engagement programmes outlined by the construction firm to address some of the constructional challenges militating against the successful execution of the project.
He appealed for a concerted effort by all relevant stakeholders towards delivering a time bound and successful project to benefit the communities in the affected areas.
