BUSINESS IN A BOX SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME HELD IN WINNEBA

The Effutu Municipal Office of the Business Advisory Centre on Thursday, March 7, 2024 held a day’s training programme in Winneba for selected participants on the Business in a Box (BizBox) Project introduced by the Business Enterprises Agency to create jobs for some one million Ghanaian youth.
The BizBox initiative is aimed at leveraging the strengths and experiences of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) and further strengthen the government’s commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs, advance the implementation of the National MSMEs and Entrepreneurship Policy as well as amplify the impact of the government’s One District One Factory Enable Youth Initiative.
The Sensitization programme for the Project, a partnership with the Mastercaard Foundation brought together participants drawn from Assembly Members, trade associations including Ghana Hair Dressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Associations, Best Cut Fashion Designers Association, Skilled Craft Persons/Beneficiaries as well as other youth groups in Winneba.
Addressing the Participants, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorbgenyui Kwadzo, encouraged the youth to take advantage of the programme to earn a living for a better life.
According to him, the BizBox project when taking seriously would go a long way to create and sustain decent jobs for the Ghanaian Youth to reduce unemployment among the youth in the country.
Mr. Dzorgbenyui Kwadzo emphasized the importance of the initiative in promoting a shift to an entrepreneurial mindset that sees challenges as opportunities, failure as a stepping stone to success and innovation as the driving force behind progress.
He reiterated that the BizBox Project was not only expected to create businesses but also ignite a transformation in the lives of thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Lead facilitator for the Programme and Head of the Business Advisory Centre in the Effutu Municipality, Miss. Linda Amoaning during the facilitation noted that the Business in a Box programme seeks to provide entrepreneurs with the tools, knowledge and support needed to start, develop and grow successful businesses.
The Project according to her, focuses on expanding business formalization, product certification and access to start-up Kits, especially in the Agricultural and Agri-adjacent Sectors.
Miss Amoaning intimated that the primary focus groups of the intervention were the Youth aged between 15 and 35, Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), Vulnerable Females, Majority Women- owned businesses and female youth-led businesses.
She explained that the project had been designed to be implemented under five pillars including Youth Skills Development, Access to Markets, Access to Startup Kits, Youth Social Networks as well as Institutional Strengthening, Policy and Regulatory Support.
