EFFUTU MCE RELOCATES TRADERS AT WINNEBA JUNCTION

Allocation of temporal spaces for traders at the Winneba Junction affected by the dualization of the Winneba-Kasoa Road project commenced on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 with the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive supervising the process to ensure a fair allocation for affected members.The affected traders whose structures were cited in the road reservation had their structures demolished to pave way for the road construction expected to expand the road to ease traffic on the Winneba to Kasoa stretch of the highway.Supervising the exercise championed by the Municipal Works Department and the Land Use and Spatial Planning Department of the Assembly, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim insisted on prioritizing the needs of affected traders before any other interest.He warned persons have not been affected by the demolishing but have attempted using clandestine means to acquire spaces at the new site to desist from that for a smooth exercise help solve problem that has arisen as a result of relocation.He charged the officers to ensure a strict and fair allocation process to ensure that no trader is thrown out of business as a result of the road construction project being undertaken by the Government of Ghana.Hon. Zubairu Kassim later interacted with the Engineers undertaking the project and assured them of the Assembly’s readiness to offer the necessary support needed for the smooth execution o the project.The Municipal Chief Executive was accompanied by the Effutu Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorgbenyui Kwadzo as well as other management members of the Assembly.STORY BY: CHARLES BAAH ABOAGYE-ISD
