The 2024 Aboakyir Festival of the chiefs and people of Effutu Traditional Area in the Central Region was on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 launched with a clarion call on the business community in Ghana to extend their support in the organization of the festival which offers the best in traditions and excitement.This year’s festival will be marked on the theme “Promoting Tradition and Development through Aboakyir Celebration”.The launch held at the Kojo Beedu Community Centre was heavily attended by the chiefs and people of the Effutu Traditional Area with hosts of corporate institutions pledging their support for the celebration.Launching the festival, the Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII urged residents to be driven by the Guan spirit in them to bring about the hospitality, loving and caring traits for the realization of the hallmark of the festival.He advised service providers such as transport operators, food and drinking joints as well as other hospitality facilities to seize the opportunity during the celebration to offer excellent services to boost the local economy.Neenyi Ghartey VII rallied the support of all in achieving the theme for this year’s celebration by bracing up for the occasion with all their abilities since the season offers the best towards exposing the customs and traditions of the Effutu people to the rest of the world for the good of the area.The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on his part pledged to resource the Environmental Health Department of the Effutu Municipal Assembly to lead the process of ensuring a clean environment before, during and after the festive occasion.On security, Hon. Zubairu Kassim assured the Effutu people of the preparedness of the Municipal Assembly working through the relevant security agencies in the area to map up strategies to clamp down on crime to ensure an incident free celebration in May 2024.He warned miscreants who may be habouring the intentions of causing mayhem during the Aboakyir season to give it a second thought, adding that the security forces would be firmly in control to ensure that residents live in a perpetually peaceful environment for the realization of the intentions for the celebration as well as boost investor confidence.The chairman for the 2024 Aboakyir Planning Committee, Mr. Justice Godsent Nkum outlined the activities earmarked for the weeklong celebration slated to begin on Saturday, April 27 to Saturday, May 4, 2024 including a Marathon Race, Cooking Competition, Health Walk and the Deer Hunting Expedition prior to the Grand- Durbar on May 4, 2024.
