The Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin on Monday, January 22, 2024 presented 300 double- decker metal beds and an additional twenty boxes of street lights to the Winneba Secondary School in his constituency.The donation by the MP is expected to help accommodate some 600 students and also address the lack of bed challenge faced by the school.Speaking at a durbar to hand over the beds to the leadership of the school, the MP for Effutu said the gesture was in line ensuring quality education delivery in the area.He noted that the Free Senior High Programme initiated by the Akuffo Addo led administration has increased enrollment, offering all Ghanaian children of school going ages the opportunity of accessing secondary education. The development which he lauded as the best approach aimed at expanding access needed the support of all to address the attendant challenges including the problem of accommodation and bed issues.Hon. Afenyo- Markin reaffirmed his commitment at transforming the Effutu Municipality into becoming an area of destination as well as a city of choice that would become the gateway to the Central Region. The Effutu Lawmaker challenged the students to make discipline a topmost priority and take their education serious to propel them to be responsible adults in future.He pledged to commit more resources at solving the pressing needs of the school for quality teaching and learning to be realized for the betterment of Effutu and its adjoining surroundings.The Headmaster of the School, Mr. Hayford Mensah Tetteh, on his part thanked the Member of Parliament for his benevolence and assured him of the school’s readiness to make good use of the beds and streetlights to serve the purpose for the donation.He commended Hon.
