A delegation from the Ghana Highways Authority and the Department of Urban Roads under the Ministry of Roads and Highways on Thursday, December 28, 2023 called on the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly at his office in Winneba to officially announce the award of a contract for the dualization of the Winneba- Kasoa Highway.
The project which is expected to commence after the completion of the design works would include an interchange at the Winneba Roundabout.
The leader of the delegation, Mr. Ferdinand Yali noted that Government had secured the funding for the project and would work expeditiously to ensure that the road is delivered on schedule to ease traffic on the Winneba- Kasoa stretch.
Beaming with excitement, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim lauded the Akuffo Addo Government for investing massively in road sector in the Effutu Municipality since assuming office in 2017. He expressed the appreciation of the Effutu people to the Government for prioritizing the needs of the people by saturating the various sectors of the economy with the required support needed for the development of the area.
He pledged the readiness of the Effutu Municipal Assembly to offer the necessary assistance to the contractor who will be executing the project to ensure a successful construction and delivery of an all-important project which would go a long way to boost the local economy.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim appealed for the construction work to be extended from Winneba Roundabout to the Klimovic Junction to join that stretch to the main road leading to Winneba town, adding that local content in purchases and recruitment of material and human resources respectively should be considered during the construction to reduce youth unemployment in the area.
