The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim on Monday, December 18, 2023 joined the Central Regional Director for the Ghana Highway Authority, Madam Mercy Payne to embark on a site inspection and meeting to ascertain the progress of work on the 4.05km upgrading/partial reconstruction of Eyigyaa Lodge Vertinary Loop and 4.70km Dayasaw Roads in Winneba.
The site inspection coupled with a meeting was held to also evaluate the quality of works being undertaken as well as audit the progress of the on-going construction and maintenance works with a total length of 8.75km being executed by construction firm KROS Project Limited.
The team comprising officials of the Ghana Highways Authority, the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Ghana Water Company Limited and KROS Project Limited made observations including back filling of drains, the rock -fill section, creation of chambers to protect Ghana Water pipelines with designs to be submitted for action by November, 2023.
Madam Mercy Payne after the inspection charged the construction firm who she said was far behind schedule to work at a faster pace to deliver a quality job to serve the good people of Winneba and its adjoining communities.
She charged the firm to increase its equipment and personnel on site to speed up the project and remain committed to the project to meet the February 2024 deadline for the completion of the road works which when completed is expected to ease vehicular traffic and create more access routes in the Municipal capital.
On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim appealed to the construction firm, KROSS Project Limited to increase the local content by offering more employment opportunities to the youth of the area to reduce youth unemployment in the Municipality.
He called for a routine watering of the stretch of road under contract during the harmattan season to help prevent air-borne diseases caused by excessive dust.
