The Department of Chemistry Education of the University of Education, Winneba on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, held a chemistry outreach program for some selected Basic schools in the Effutu Municipal Assembly.
The outreach Festival was aimed at embracing the study of chemistry to dispel any misconception about its study among students
The event held under the theme “Chemistry in the Challenging World” sought to showcase the fascinating aspects of the study of chemistry to inspire students to delve deeper into the study to bring about discoveries to affect the growth of the Municipality and the country as a whole.
The participating schools, Ansaful M/A Basic School, New Winneba M/A Basic School, and Winneba Blessed Assurance School were divided into five groups for an all-round practical experiment works on specific chemistry topics to broaden the horizon of the students in the study of science.
In a speech read on his behalf, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, said that the study of chemistry leads to great discoveries that impact on inventions across the globe.
He intimated that the study of Chemistry presents perfect opportunities for people to look into the future with curiosity for challenges leading to discoveries needed for the growth of the world economy.
The Effutu MCE pledged the Assembly’s preparedness to partner with the University of Education to commit resources to extend the Chemistry outreach Festival to all basic schools in the Municipality to help the training of the future human resource base of Effutu to drive her development agenda forward.
Mrs. Kareen Badu, the Science Education Coordinator of the Effutu Municipal Education Directorate on her part, encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunities presented to them to ask the relevant questions required for the acquisition of the knowledge needed to push them to the next level in their educational career.
