EFFUTU MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ENGAGES OCCUPANTS OF ASSEMBLY STORES

September 27, 2023

A stakeholders’ meeting on the 2024 Fee Fixing for rent of the Effutu Municipal Assembly was on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, organized between the Assembly and occupants of the market stores belonging to the Assembly at the Municipal Assembly conference room.
The meeting forms part of the series of consultative stakeholders’ engagements with business owners and operators to determine fees, rates and levies payable to the Assembly for their operations as stipulated in the statutes.
The engagements are also part of efforts to enhance and deepen the involvement and participation of stakeholders in the decision-making process of the Assembly with the view of sensitizing, soliciting and incorporating their views on new fees, rates, levies, licenses and permits of all businesses before approval and implementation as required for good corporate governance.
The Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Kyei Stephen, sensitized the participants on the new formula for calculating rates and levies as documented by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to exercise fairness, equity, transparency and accountability.
Mr. Kyei whiles announcing the proposed rents for the 2024 financial year took them through the utilization of the Assembly’s internally generated funds (IGF) and the need to pay their levies and fees regularly and promptly.
Deliberations on the proposed rents were held with agreements reached on the amount payable by the occupants for submission to the General Assembly for approval and implementation in the 2024 fiscal year.
The stakeholders appealed to the Management of the Assembly to involve the traders more in their fee-fixing efforts since the levies affect them directly. They urged the Assembly to relax on increment of some of the levies and rates.
