The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 held a stakeholders engagement meeting with the chiefs and opinion leaders of New Winneba at the Community Centre to discuss matters concerning the construction of a new senior high school project and its related issues in the area.
In attendance were the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, Presiding Member, Hon. Elizabeth Awo Senah, Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banani Dzorgbenyui Kwadzo, Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Abuabakar Saddique Adam, Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. Emmanuel Yeboah and Municipal Information Officer, Mr. Charles Baah Aboagye. The rest included the Municipal Director of Internal Audit, Mrs. Tawakalitu Raji, Municipal Urban Roads Engineer, Mr. Eric Akwei, Assistant Budget Analyst, Mr. Daniel Twum Barimah, and Municipal MIS Officer Mr. Patrick Cobby Nhyira.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, called for the support of the community for the successful execution and completion of the project. He appealed to the community to provide the necessary assistance the contractor would require in the course of the construction period.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that the school project which is one of three senior high school projects lobbied for the Municipality by the Member of Parliament when completed will add to the only public senior high school (WINNESEC) in the area, adding that it will create the opportunity for more youth in the area and elsewhere to have access to quality education under the Free Senior High Scholl Programme introduced by the Akufo Addo led NPP Government.
An opinion leader who spoke on behalf of the community, Mr. Daniel Eduful, bemoaned the rate of encroachment on the land earmarked for the school and called on the leadership of the Assembly to as a matter of urgency work closely with the traditional leadership there for a proper demarcation of the layouts backed by enforcement to stop the menace of land encroachment in the area.
He expressed the appreciation of the entire New Winneba Community to Effutu Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament for working hard to site the construction of the project in the area.
The Effutu MCE later led the team of technical people from the Assembly to visit the site earmarked for the project to acquaint themselves with the reality on the ground for the necessary action to create easy access for the contractor to deliver the project on schedule.
