EMA HOLDS BUDGET PREPARATION TRAINING

As part of efforts to implement and strengthen budget preparation processes and to kick start the preparation of the 2024 to 2027 composite budget of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, the Assembly of Friday, September 15, 2023 began a training programme for various departments and units within the Assembly.
The training programme held in two folds saw the Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Stephen Kyei equipping participants with the necessary information on how to prepare the budget that conform with the 1992 constitution as well as the Public Financial Management Regulations and the Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Abubakar Saddique Adam taking the trainees through the District Development Data Platform (DDDP), a web- based data entry platform introduced by the GIZ.
Mr. Stephen Kyei took the participants through prospective tax options for the coming fiscal year, 2024 and guided them through a presentation and highlighted on revenue items including fees being charged as well as projected fees for the ensuing year.
Delivering on the District Development Data Platform (DDDP), Mr. Abubakar Saddique Adam noted that the web-based entry platform aims to revolutionize the way data is captured, monitored and evaluated, ultimately leading to improved database management and enhanced service delivery.
He said that the platform serves as a crucial tool that facilitates easy comparison of results across all districts, making it easier to track the progress of action plans, adding that by leveraging the power of data, the platform empowers local Assemblies to monitor district performance and identify areas that require attention.
In his closing remarks, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorgbenyui Kwadzo, thanked the Departmental and Unit Heads of the Assembly for honouring the invitation and taking part of the training to brainstorm on the development agenda for the 2024 fiscal year.
He took them through the legal backing of the Local Governance (2016) on revenue collection and urged them to continue to contribute their quota towards developing the Municipality in line with the development agenda of the Government of the day.
