1,840 CANDIDATES SIT FOR 2023 BECE IN WINNEBA

A total number of 1,840 candidates are sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which commenced on Monday August 7, 2023 in the Effutu Municipality.

The 1, 840 candidates made up of 884 boys and 956 girls from 56 schools comprising 23 public schools and 33 private schools in the Effutu Municipality on the first day of the exams sat for two papers in Religious and Moral Education and English Language in a highly protected environment with no absentee recorded.

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim in the company of the Presiding Member, Hon. Elizabeth Awo Senah, Human Resource Manager of the Ghana Education Service in the Effutu Municipality, Mr. Moses Okine and other senior members of the Ghana Education Service in Winneba visited all five centres at the Winneba Secondary School to interact with the students.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim whiles wishing the students the best of luck urged them to remain calm and focused, devoid of fear or panic throughout the examination period.

He advised the candidates to play by the rules governing the conduct of the examinations and abide by them in order to ensure an incident-free examination.

The Effutu MCE appealed to the all candidates in this year’s BECE examination to eschew all forms of examination malpractices before, during and after the exams, adding that success in life is only achieved through honesty and hard work.

Hon Zubairu Kassim entreated the invigilators to work at their professional best not to engage in acts that may appear intimidatory to the candidates who are taking part in a major examination for the first time of their lives.

He announced that Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin has provided for breakfast to be served to all 1840 BECE candidates in the Municipality throughout the examination period to enable them concentrate on the task of approaching the exams with the view of increasing the pass rate in the municipality.
