A move to build and deepen a sister- city friendship between Winneba, the capital of the Effutu Municipal Assembly and her counterpart from Lowell City Council, Massachusetts in the United State of America received a boost with the latter commissioning a delegate to visit Winneba to explore possible means of strengthening the association to the benefit of the two countries.
The delegate, Mr. Gordon Donkoh- Halm was received by the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim who expressed the joy of the Effutu people at creating and deepening a relationship of mutual benefit of the two cities.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim noted that though cited in different continents, the ideas and future success that the partnership seeks to present both countries will be united in the desire to seek new ventures to raise their mutual horizons.
The two leaders were later ushered into a close-door meeting to discuss among other things areas to explore to help build the economies of both cities.
In a letter signed by the Mayor of the City of Lowell, Sokhary C. Chau, he acknowledged receipt of an earlier correspondence from his Efftutu counterpart, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, beaming with enthusiasm to strengthen the sister-city relations to positively affect both countries
He pledged the readiness of the City of Lowell to partner with the City of Winneba to strengthen the mutual bonds of friendship between the two countries.
Whiles encouraging the exploration of mutually advantageous actions to be initiated to benefit the two cities, the City of Lowell the Mayor announced the appointment Mr. Gordon Donkoh- Halm as a “Godwill Ambassador” to represent the ideas and desire to improve in many areas alive and strong.
