Frontline Health workers of the Ghana Health Service from three Municipal and District Assemblies in the Central Region namely, Effutu Municipal, Gomoa East and Gomoa West Districts have received recognition from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the selfless services they rendered to the nation at the peak of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
The awardees numbering 138 health workers drawn from the three Assemblies on Wednesday July 5, 2023 received certificates signed by the President expressing the appreciation of the nation to them for risking their lives to lead the charge to save lives of citizens as well as working tirelessly to reduce and stop the spread of the virus during the period.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim addressing the gathering at the Conference Hall of the Trauma and Specialist Hospital at Winneba praised the remarkable and incredible show of expertise, professionalism and the unwavering commitment exhibited by the health workers that helped to save lives of the many who patronized the health facilities and were diagnosed of the virus.
Describing them as the pillars of the communities who the people will forever be grateful to, Hon. Zubairu Kassim commended the tireless efforts of health workers at educating citizens about preventive measures, conducting tests, providing treatment as well as ensuring the smooth functioning of the various healthcare systems, adding that these services were instrumental in curbing the spread of the virus to save lives.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim admonished Ghanaians to remember the lessons learnt from the emergence of the dark tunnel of the pandemic to honour the sacrifices of the gallant health workers who worked day and night to build a much stronger and resilient Ghana.
The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive who was joined by his colleague from the Goamoa West District, Hon. Bismark Baisie Nkum with support from the Coordinating Directors as well as Health Directors from the respective Assemblies presented the Awards (Certificates) to the Frontline and Allied Health Workers including the Effutu Municipal Director of Health Services, Madam Mariatu Seidu, the Medical Superintendent of the Winneba Municipal Hospital, Dr. Akwasi Bota and the Medical Director at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, Dr. George Kwame Prah.
