The Effutu Municipal Assembly has held a farewell dinner in honour of a delegation from the Winneba Charlottesville Foundation from Charlottesville Virginia in the United States of America.
The team was in Winneba to among other things study the culture and traditions of the Effutu people as well as join the people in the celebration of the 2023 Aboakyir Festival of the Chiefs and people of Effutu.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation at the event, a senior member of the team, Richard Morris, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and love shown them by the Effutu Municipal Assembly and the Effutu people.
He said that the delegation from Charlottesville had learnt a lot about the culture and traditions of the Effutu people as well as interacted well with the local people to share their experiences with them.
Mr. Morris, applauded the Effutu Traditional Council and the Municipal Assembly for uniting the people through the celebration of the Aboakyir Festival to bring about development.
For his part, the Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area, Nenyi Ghartey VII, lauded the Winneba Charlottesville Foundation for their continuous show of love for the Effutu people. He said that the partnership between the two cities will go a long way to deepen the bond established between the two to achieve mutual benefits.
Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, the Effutu Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorgbenyui Kwadwo, said that the Assembly cherished the partnership with the Winneba Charlottesville Foundation and would work to deepen it to benefit both cities.
He thanked the group for donating to support various sectors of the Effutu economy including health, security and education. He appealed to the group to support the Municipal Assembly with some essential office logistics needed to deliver on its mandate of extending development to all corners of the Municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on behalf of the Assembly, decorated the team members with designed Kente cloths made in Winneba to foster the bond of friendship between the two cities.
Present at the dinner were the Medical Superintendent of the Effutu Municipal Hospital, Dr. Akwasi Bota, Presiding Member of the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Elizabeth Awo Senah, Executive Committee Members of the Efftutu Municipal Assembly, Heads of Department of the Assembly as well as staff of the Effutu Municipal Assembly.
