EFFUTU BAC TRAINS YOUTH ON GHANA JOBS AND SKILLS PROJECT

The Winneba office of the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has kick-start a five- day training programme for applicants under the YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project on Monday, May 8, 2023.

The project which is one of the components of the YouStart Programme introduced by the government, seeks to equip the youth with employable skills and set them up in business. 

The YouStart programme offers the vehicle through which government intends to provide funding and technical support to the youth as well as youth-led businesses to assist them start, build and grow their own businesses. 

Opening the programme, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, noted that the training workshop was intended to equip the participants with the requisite employable skills to enable them contribute immensely to nation building. He charged the participants to show seriousness in the process to enable them go through all the stages successfully to acquire the needed funds to grow their businesses.

Hon. Zubairu Kassim whiles intimating the NPP Government’s vision for youth development stated that, youth development remained key on the agenda of government as demonstrated in the introduction of many youth-centred programmes geared towards securing a better future for the Ghanaian youth to reduce unemployment in the country.

The government, he said, would continue to implement more youth-oriented programmes for the youth of the country anchored on skills development. 

The Effutu MCE underscored the importance of skills development and charged the youth to take keen interest in skills acquisition to be relevant in the 21st Century.

On her part, the Officer in charge of the Business Advisory Centre in the Effutu Municipality, Madam Linda Amoaning, noted that the training programme will be in three (3) levels; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.  

Madam Amoaning announced that business start-up grants will be made available for participants who successfully completed the program. According to her the start- up funds will be given to entrepreneurs with high potential to succeed in business and operate in any of the non-resource-based sectors.

In all, thirty three (33) participants made up of four (4) males and twenty nine (29) females drawn from all parts of the Municipality were taken through the first stage of basic training with facilitation led by an astute entrepreneur, Mr. Jacob Enu Ansah.

The Municipal Chief Executive was accompanied by the Presiding Member for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Elizabeth Awo Senah and the Municipal Information Officer, Mr. Charles Baah Aboagye.
