Scholars of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) at the University of Education, Winneba on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, donated teaching and learning materials to the Winneba Methodist A and B Basic Schools at Lancaster in the Effutu Municipal Assembly, in fulfillment of the group’s social responsibility to the community.
The GNPC Scholars at the University of Education, Winneba is made up of students who are under GNPC scholarship.
The items donated included stationery such as 500 pieces of GNPC customized Exercise Books, ten (10) packets of Pencils 15 Cardboards, 20 pieces of socks two (2) packs of A4 Sheets, two(2) boxes of pens, one(1) Marker Board, a set of Sanitary Pads Story Books, seven(7) buckets of Oil and Emulsion Paints , four(4) boxes of Markers as well as other valuable items.
The President of the Group, Samuel Cleland, expressing the rational for the gesture noted that the group was driven by GNPC Foundation’s Impacting Lives agenda to also contribute their quota to society’s development, adding that the donation is expected to go a long way to motivate and facilitate effective teaching and learning to bring about the desired results of education in the Municipality.
Receiving the items, the Headmistress of the school, Madam Catherine Quarm expressed the gratitude of the school and its pupils to the group and assured them that the items will be put to good use. She said the teachers of the school are motivated by the gesture and will do their best in helping the pupils grow academically.
In an address read on his behalf, the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, praised the attitude of the scholars and described their gesture as worthy of emulation.
He charged the management of the school to take good care of the items, and encouraged the pupils to study hard in school to become responsible adults in future.
