The University of Education, Winneba (UEW), has held a ceremony to graduate a total of 13,993 students at its first session of the 27th Congregation ceremony at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre, North Campus, Winneba from Monday 27th to Saturday 1ST April, 2023.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chairman of the University Governing Council, Nana Ofori Ansah I, with support from the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim with gradaunds awarded degrees and diploma certificates in their areas of study from the various faculties of the University.
In his welcome address, Nana Ofori ANSAH, charged the graduands to brace themselves up for the challenges on the job market which required the application of the knowledge obtained from the University to cause a change in the society.
Nana Ofori Ansah I urged the graduating students to take a stock of what they have achieved and make a conscious decision to let their experiences at the University of Education, Winneba count in their future endeavours.
Giving account of developments in the school, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Mawutor Avoke, noted that, the University has made great strides in the area of infrastructure development, with works on the University hospital and the refurbishment of the science laboratory at various stages of completion.
In the area of sports, Prof. Mawutor Avoke announced that the University was adjudged the overall best in the just ended GUSA games held at KNUST, Kumasi, winning all six (6) gold medals in the various disciplines.
He announced that, a total of Twelve thousand, nine hundred and ninety-six (12,996) graduands made up of Eight thousand, Two hundred and Sixty -Six (8,266) males and Four thousand, Seven hundred and thirty (4730) females, were in the 2021/2022 academic year graduating with various degrees, diplomas and certificates.
He congratulated the graduating students for their achievements, and urged them to be worthy ambassadors of the University by striving to exhibit the core values of the school.
Present at the ceremony were, Vice Chancellor, Professor Mawutor AVOKE, Chairman of the University Governing Council, Nana Ofori ANSAH I, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang, Acting Registrar, Wilhelmina Tete-Mensah, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, and Members of the convocation.
