GHANA HIGHWAY AUTHORITY LEADS PROJECT SITE INSPECTION OF WINNEBA TOWN ROADS

The Central Regional Director of the Ghana Highway Authority, Engineer Mercy Payne, on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, led an inspection of some ongoing construction of roads in the Effutu Municipality as part of her outfit’s regular site inspection tours and meetings of the Effutu Municipality in Central Region.

The Regional Highway Authority Boss, accompanied by the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim as well as other Engineers from the Central Regional Highway Authority and the Effutu Municipality, inspected the upgrading and partial reconstruction  of the Eyigya Lodge Veterinary loop (4.05km), Dayasaw roads (4.70km) being constructed by Messrs Kros Project Limited and a 4.5km upgrading and partial reconstruction of Kojo Bedu/ Komfo Addae North and South Community Roads including the New Winneba Factory Road.

The site meetings among other things allowed for updates from the two contractors of the two construction companies working on the Winneba town roads, observations and comments, progress of work, safety and contractual issues. It also enabled the team to identify potential issues and recommended for corrections to avoid major defects to save cost to the contractor with an advice to them to put the necessary measures in place to enable them deliver a quality job on schedule. The contractors took turns to update the house on their work, explaining why they were trailing behind or making progress.

Chairing the meetings after the site inspections, Madam Mercy Payne, indicated that the most pressing concern of her outfit has to do with the overall work being done properly and meeting the set targets.

She noted that the quality of construction work executed so far needed some level of improvement, and charged the local engineers to do more in supervising the construction works adequately to minimize mistakes with the aim of avoiding them completely.

The Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on his part reechoed his call on the contractors consider local content in their engagement of personnel with training and skills in specialized areas including carpentry, Steal Bending and masonry.

He assured them of the Assembly’s support in ensuring the delivery of quality projects needed to expand the local economy by creating more access routes to ease traffic and congestion in the Municipality.
