A short ceremony to hand over 28 newly recruited Community Police Assistants by the Municipal Directorate of the Youth Employment Agency to the Ghana Police Service in the Municipality was on Thursday, March 9, 2023 held in Winneba.
The recruits during a three- week intensive training at the Tesano Police Training School acquired skills in crowd control, traffic management, report writing skills, crime prevention among others.
The 28 beneficiaries form the second batch of young men and women recruited from the Effutu Municipal through the instrumentality of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim.
The Community Protection Assistants (CPAs), a module introduced by the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) under a collaboration with the Ghana Police Service is aimed at creating jobs for the unemployed youth of the country, as well as support the Ghana Police Service in preventive and social community policing.
Addressing the recruits, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, advised them to maintain a high sense of discipline and professionalism in the performance of their duties.
He charged the recruits to use the knowledge acquired during the training, together with the traditions, values and principles of the job for efficient service delivery.
Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim admonished the recruits to be truthful and hardworking because the Municipality and the nation as a whole deserved quality service delivery from them to aid her growth. They were urged to be proactive and committed to their work to inspire confidence in the society members in them without compromising on professionalism as well as engaging in activities that have the tendency of undermining national peace and development.
The Effutu Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Jeffery Darko, admonished the recruits to maintain high moral ethics with high level of professionalism and dedication to duty for the public to have confidence in them. Chief Superintendent Darko advised the recruits to be civil, firm and level- headed in the discharge of their mandated duties.
The Municipal Director of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr. Yakubu Quansah, on his part noted that the beneficiaries will work on a contract basis expected to expire in 2025.
He announced that the previous beneficiaries upon expiration of their contracts have been absorbed into the mainstream Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces whiles others have gained permanent employment into institutions such as Ghana COCOBOD, Customs Division, Fire Service and the Immigration Service among others.
