The Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alenxander Kwamena Afenyo –Markin, has organized a free eye screening exercise for residents in all 18 Electoral Areas suffering from diverse eye problems in the constituency.
The one- week exercise which started on Monday, January 23, 2023 is to provide free medication and eye glasses to those with mild conditions, while those with serious conditions will be offered surgical operations to correct defects.
The announcement was made by the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Kassim, when he addressed Members of the Winneba branch of the Ghana Pensioners Association at their General Meeting and End-of-Year Get- Together at Winneba on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
He charged the Pensioners to seize the opportunity to access medical care for eye related ailments they are confronted with.
He said that the Municipality recognizes the contribution made in the past by pensioners in the development of the area and pledged the support of the Municipal Assembly for their health and welfare during their retirement.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim appealed to the leadership of the Association to fast track the process of acquiring a District Status for the Winneba Branch of the SSNIT Pensioners Associaation.
The Municipal Chief Executive and Member of Parliament made cash donations to support the activities of the Association with a pledge to assist in the acquisition of a new office befitting the status of pensioners in Effutu.
The President of the SSNIT Pensioners Association in Winneba, Rt. Rev. Samuel Aidoo- Bervell, showered praises on the Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive for the support they have been offering pensioners in Effutu.
He appealed for support in taking care of medical bills/cost of the members of the Association who during their working days offered selfless services in laying the foundation for the development of Effutu.
