The Effutu Municipal Assembly as part of its core mandates in ensuring a conducive environment for teaching and learning on Monday, January 23, 2023 presented 200 Dual Desks including Hexagonal tables and chairs to the newly constructed Ayirebi Yankson Basic School in Winneba to take care of the furniture needs of the pupils of the school.
Handing over the desks to the Effutu Municipal Directorate of Education at a short ceremony at the school premises on Monday, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, noted that as an Assembly, Education continues to be one of the topmost priorities of his administration.
He said that procuring furniture for the Ayirebi Yankson Basic School was crucial in ensuring that teaching and learning is made easy to realize the goals of education as well as creating equal opportunities for all pupils of school going age in the Municipality.
He said that the Assembly will continue to assist the Ghana Education Service with the needed logistics to meet the enrolment needs in public schools to help improve academic work in the area.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim whiles assuring of the Assembly’s zeal not to relent on its efforts at investing heavily in education announced that he has been able to lobby the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) to begin the construction of a Six- seater toilet facility for the school, adding that the project will be completed within two months for use.
Mrs. Mabel Judith Micah, the Effutu Municipal Director of Education, who received the desks on behalf of the Ghana Education Service, thanked the Municipal Chief Executive and the Municipal Assembly for the support.
She stated that the provision of the desk will go a long way to solve the furniture challenges faced by the directorate in providing for the new school and expressed the hope that more of such dual desks and other support for the enhancement of teaching and learning will be provided to augment what the Service already has in the system.
She assured that her office will ensure that they are used for the purpose they were provided and maintain them to prolong their life span
