The Vice President, Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia, has hailed the contribution of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission of Ghana towards national development with a call for equity in the administration of justice for all manner of persons regardless of their class and stature in the society.
He charged all Ghanaians to stand up against acts of injustice and inequality anytime they are served on the people in any part of the society.
Vice President Bawumia made the call when he addressed the 90th Annual National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana at Pomadze near Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana on Saturday January 21, 2023.
The three-day Convention, on the theme: “Promoting Justice and Social Cohesion- the Islamic Example” was attended by Ahmadis from across the world, as well as leaders of other religious sects including the representative of the Pope of the Catholic Church, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Henryk Jagodziinski.
Also in attendance was Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, who representated the National Chief Iman, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu.
Quoting from Chapter 5:8 of the Holy Quran, Dr. Bawumia, noted that the key principles of justice are grounded in both the Holy Quran and the Hadith which serve as a guide to all Muslims throughout the world, adding that justice delivery and justice are important subjects in Islam.
He said that as people of faith being just in pursuing justice should not be an option but a divine command on all regardless of the place and the characters involved. Dr. Bawumia, noted that there was the need for acceptable principles of justice in society for determining what people deserve.
On the peaceful co-existence of people of all faith in Ghana especially Muslims and Christians, the Vice President called on all Ghanaians to continue to cherish one another by tolerating all views and be each other’s keeper.
Speaking to welcome all Ahmadis to the Convention, the Amir Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Alhaji Noor Mohamed Bin Salih, advised political leaders to administer justice equally to all manner of Citizens to promote social cohesion and national development.
He said that the nation can only develop if the citizens feel the impact of justice delivery as serving the interest of all and not a privileged few in the society.
The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan and the Deputy Minister for Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah, together with the Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, as well as other Municipal and District Chief Executives from the Central Region joined the Vice President to observe the 90th National Annual Convention with AHmadiyya Muslim Mission at Pomadze.
