The Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on Saturday October15, 2022 led hundreds of residents in Winneba in the central regional edition of the novel National Fitness Day Programme dubbed the “National Fitness Day” celebration.
With the Municipal Chief Executive were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Asiedu, Heads of the various Government Departments and Agencies in Winneba, the Security Agencies,the clergy and opinion leaders within the Municipality.
The day which has been set aside at the instance of the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahmudu Bawumia to promote regular physical exercise and awareness of the Ghanaian people was spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Central Regional Coordinating Council and the Effutu Municipal Assembly drew large crowds of people from almost all the communities within the Municipal Capital of Winneba.
The walk witnessed a kick -off from the Efutu Municipal Assembly premises in the early hours of Saturday through the principal streets of Winneba with a final conversion at Presbyterian School Park where the participants were taken through some aerobics and other exercises.
Addressing the crowd, the Municipal Chief Executive praised the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Regional Coordinating Council for the tremendous efforts made for the successful organization of the regional event in Winneba.
He urged all to embrace regular physical activity and the National Fitness Day on the second Saturday of every month to improve their well-being, adding that exercising regularly helps in developing a healthy mind and body to increase productivity in the country.
