MCE MEETS UNIVERSITY AUTHORITIES OVER STUDENTS BRUHAHA

The Municipal Chief Executive for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on Monday October 10, 2022, met with the Management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) in an attempt to help resolve the issues regarding the results of Final Year (Level 400) students of the University forcing them to embark on a demonstration which disrupted exams scheduled for Monday in all three campuses in Winneba.

The Students embarked on the demonstration to register their displeasure over the inaction of the University Management towards resolving challenges associated with the portal on which their results were mounted.

The Level 400 students claim that their results since Level 100 had not been mounted in the portals with some few days left for them complete their four year pursuit of University education.

At a meeting with the University authorities, Hon. Zubairu Kassim, charged the Management to work assiduously to resolve the challenges immediately to pave way for the final examination leading to the graduation of the aggrieved final year students.  

He also appealed for students who owed school fees to be granted access to the examination halls to sit for the end of semester examination and special arrangements made for them to settle their indebted to the University.

On his part the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Mawutor Avoke, assured the MCE of the University’s relentless efforts at resolving the challenges relating to mounting the results in the student portals.

He promised that there would be no graduation until the correct results of the last student was mounted in the portal.

In another development, the Municipal Chief Executive joined the chiefs and elders of Ahwire Nkwanta at New Winneba to perform the traditional rites to pave way for the construction of the road leading to the site earmarked for the construction of a Paper Factory for the Effutu Municipality.

Traditional prayers were performed by the traditional authorities in the full glare of the MCE who is burnt on supervising the successful execution of both the road and factory construction works to help turn the fortunes of the local economy as well as create jobs for the teaming youth of Effutu.
