The Deputy Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has warned local contractors to desist from the practice diverting funds meant for the execution of projects for their personal gains at the expense of executing quality jobs in the interest of larger community
He cautioned that his administration will from henceforth deal with serious and hardworking contractors who show commitment to tasks given them without giving rome for laziness and shoddy works to avoid the unnecessary squandering of money without results. This he said was the only way to commit and realize the Effutu Dream agenda for a total transformation of the Effutu Constituency as well as improving the lives of the people to contribute to national development.
Hon. Afenyo Markin issued the stern warning at the commissioning of three multi-purpose Community Centers in New Winneba, New Ateitu and Bombrimto, all in the Effutu constituency.
He expressed worry at the situation where some residents squander and mismanage support offered them to engage in entrepreneurial ventures to better their lots, warning that he would no longer pamper such residents at the expense of many who show the zeal to succeed when given the opportunity.
The community Centers are to serve the purpose of offering venues for social and other gatherings for the people in the communities.
Hon. Afenyo Markin said the commissioning of the community centers were in fulfillment of a campaign promise made prior to the 2020 General Elections. He reiterated his resolve to place Effutu at the apex of his agenda by serving his constituents with truth and humility to better their lives.
He urged the people to come together for real development to take place with an appeal on them to be patient with the government as it continued to pursue policies and programmes geared towards meeting their needs and improving their standards of living.
Hon. Afenyo Markin reiterated his pledge to get a paper factory constructed at New Winneba to create employment opportunities for the teaming youth of the area and the constituency as a whole.
The chiefs and people in all the three communities’ whiles expressing their joy thanked their member of parliament for honouring his campaign pledge to them with the provision of community centres for all forms of gatherings for the people.
In an interview after the commissioning, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, who was the chairman for all three commissioning programmes lauded the Effutu law maker for his exemplary leadership which continues to draw development projects to the area.
He appealed to the chiefs and people of the three communities to cultivate the maintenance culture to keep the facilities in the best form of shapes for the continuous benefit to the people, adding that the Assembly will always partner with the MP for more development in the Municipality.
