The people of Sankor community in the Effutu Municipality had their fair share of the Member of Parliament’s development agenda with Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin commissioning a befitting 3-Unit classroom block to help address the infrastructure deficit faced by the ACM Basic School in the community on the Tuesday September 20, 2022.
The scene of joy and ecstasy that greeted the faces of stakeholders was an indication that, the much needed classrooms and its attendant ancillary solely funded by the Member of Parliament will go a long way to improve the teaching and learning in that community.
In his delivery, Hon. Afenyo Markin implored parents to stick to the tenets of unleashing corrective measures on their wards with the mindset of guiding them to be responsible citizens in future. He recounted his personal experience with his father who always got him to prioritize his studies at the expense of less important T.V programmes.
He was of much praise to his mother for not shielding him anytime he went wrong but exposed him to face disciplinary and corrective measures from his father.
Hon. Afenyo Markin Appealed to mothers not to cover up for the wrong doings od their wards whiles eschewing teaming up with the children to blackmail fathers who continuously discipline them as a means of preparing them to be responsible citizens in future.
He admonished parents in this era of social media-oriented society not to allow the children get addicted to social media, adding that Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are considered to be dangerous for kids and bemoaned situations where some parents allow their kids unguided access to social media considering it to be normal for them.
The MP appealed to teachers to give off their best by bringing all they have learnt to bear on students for a positive impact. He called on stakeholders to ensure that kids benefit from the edifice.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, on his part thanked the Member of Parliament for his commitment at seeing to the growth of education in the municipality. He further commended Hon. Afenyo Markin for pursuing a move to leave a legacy which will produce more elites to accelerate the development of Effutu in the future.
He reiterated the calls of the Member of Parliament and asked the people of Sankor to take good care of the school by adopting same as their property.
The ceremony also coincided with the handing- over of a 6-unit classroom block renovated by the Effutu Municipal Assembly for the ACM Basic School at Sankor.
